2003-2005

In 2003 I started studying multimedia and communication technology at the PIH in Kortrijk. A very exciting time, since I was introduced to all these amazing technologies and applications.

It was then that I discovered what I wanted to do, and what I wanted to become. I learned a lot of new things about design, development and computers in general.

I learned how to code simple applications using a varity of languages: from Java and VB.not to ASP and JSP and was submerged in the wonderfull world of Webdesign when I learned photoshop, illustrator and Flash.

But after a while, I decided I diwn't just want to be a developer OR a designer, I wanted to do both.

2005 - 2009

In August 2005 I was invited to join the Creative Staff Team at deviantART.com, the world biggest online art community.

As a member of the Creative Team, I was responsible for every bit of graphic & webdesign produced by deviantART, except the site itself: t-shirts, advertisements, promo material, etc..

I spend most of the time designing and coding miniwebsites used to promote contest organised by deviantART. A fair share of these contests were sponsored by, or in partnership with, some of the industrie's biggest brands:

Verizon, Miramax, Redbull, 20th Century Fox, Ubisoft, Scion, Okami, ...

2007 - 2008

From 2007 to 2008 I worked as a freelance designer and developer for a Canadian Design Studio. I was still studying at the time, so this was a great oppurtunity to gain some real world experience.

I learned how to work with clients, how to figure out what they want and more even importantly, what they actually need.

It was rather exciting, because the work I was offered was pretty varied. I worked on logo's, created icon-sets, designed a few website and created several wordpress themes.

Basically, I learned a lot in a very short period.

2005 - 2009

After 2 years of Multimedia & communitcation technology I had decided that I want to be both developer and designer. So, since it was time to concentrate on the aesthtic aspects,  I went off and started studying graphic and webdesign at the Royal Academy for Fine Arts in Gent.

I'm very happy with the decision I made back then, because this way I could focus on the design aspect of my work, while I was already perfecty capable of executing all my ideas, thanks to the great background in coding I had aquired during my 2 years in Kortrijk.

I graduated in 2009 with a Masters Degree in Graphic & Web design.

Web designer & developer at Chilli

2009 - ...

Right after I graduated in 2009, I started working for Chilli Design & Multimedia, a small design agency in the city centre of Ghent.

At Chilli we really believe in the power and value of a well designed brand. We believe in the total package, so what we love most is creating the whole visual identity: from logo to website and everything in between.

I'm responsible for designing an developing most of our websites: allthough these websites range from small websites for local clients, to big and complex websites for nationwide companies and complete and fully featured webshops, we allways aim for simplicity and ease of use.
